Thank You
Autumn in the Blue Ridge Mountains
November is nearly over, and tomorrow marks another holiday called Thanksgiving. This is the day that is loaded with feasting on everything from soup to nuts. The main attraction is of course a large and golden brown bird called Turkey.
Many actually take the time to reflect on the beginnings and intentions of the earliest pioneers to this new land that spelled freedom and sanctuary. Freedom to worship according to their conscience and the Holy Scriptures, and sanctuary from restrictions left behind.
I now reflect on this day in the year 2015, and try to count the times every day that my voice and my silent heart utter the words, "Thank you". Sometimes few, but sometimes many multiple. Sometimes to show appreciation for even simple acts of kindness, Sometimes to offer loudly my intense gratitude to my Father for His constant care and tangible presence and protection in my life. Other times maybe directed to a fellow traveler who is gracious to wave me ahead of him. Then adding a heartfelt "Bless you!"
Many years ago, while hearing a teaching based on 'The Lord's Prayer', the words spoken by pastor were, 'Give us this day our daily bread'. Suddenly, I heard the voice of Father intervening and distinctly saying, "Give me this day a grateful heart". After about thirty years, I have never forgotten that admonition on that day. It is surely a golden key to pull myself back to a realistic and necessary attitude in the best and worst of circumstances.
My Dear Abba Father, I do thank YOU and bless YOU for all You do and all You are in my life. I thank You for my husband and the children you have given us, and most of all for Your Son who has given His very life to redeem us and give to us Eternal Life. Thank you for every 'mountain' and even every 'valley' that draws us closer into Your presence. You have given us Life, and that abundantly. May I live every day with a heart that is overflowing with Thanksgiving.
In the Name that is above every name.........Yeshua, my Messiah.
Amen and Amen
